  • Energy Air, Inc. Gives Away $23,500 at Company Picnic for Safety Pays Jackpot

ORLANDO, FL November 2, 2009 — Local air conditioning company, Energy Air, Inc., gave away $23,500.00 at its annual company picnic on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009.

The “jackpot” was a part of the company’s Safety Pays program and was given away to field employees who were not involved in an accident for the year prior.

Energy Air, Inc. started the Safety Pays program in 2007. Each week the company goes accident free, $500.00 is deposited into the jackpot. The jackpot has the potential to reach $36,000.00.

More than 100 field employees participated in this year’s jackpot drawings. Each employee without an injury was given a bracelet. At 1:00 p.m., the bracelets were added to a drum, and the festivities started.

Fifty colored envelopes were displayed on a board that covered the wall. As names were selected, participants chose an envelope and discovered their winnings in front of an audience of company staff and family members.

    Winners walked away with slips valued at $2,500.00, $1,500.00, $1,000.00, $750.00, $500.00, $250.00 and $100.00.

It’s something the field team looks forward to all year, according to Phillip “Critter” Crider, vice president of operations for Energy Air.

“Not only are they recognized for making it accident free all year, they also have the opportunity to win a lot of cash,” said Critter. “There is so much excitement in the air when the drawings start. It really gets everyone pumped up.”

Energy Air also took this time to launch its new Zero Accident policy. In an effort to reduce the number of job site injuries, all field employees are now required to wear 100% personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Disciplinary action will be taken for those that do not follow the new policy.

A zero injury approach is the best way to achieve desired safety goals according to David Kulp, executive vice president and part owner of Energy Air.

“Accidents are going to happen, but with our zero-injury approach and attitude, there are many silly accidents that will easily be prevented,” said Kulp. “We have an amazing team, so I know with a little reinforcement we can achieve our safety goals.”
