  • Energy Air, Inc. Starts Third Year of In-House F.A.C.T. Training Program

ORLANDO, FL September 22, 2009 — Local air conditioning company, Energy Air, Inc., kicked off the third year of its in-house Florida Air Conditioning Training (F.A.C.T.) Program on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009.

The F.A.C.T Program is a three-level program that provides an opportunity for Energy Air’s employees to take advantage of skill and safety training pertaining to HVAC for residential and commercial buildings. Level I of the program launched in 2007. This is the first year F.A.C.T. Level III will be taught.

Twenty-five students are newly enrolled in the program this year, with a total of 68 students attending classes in various levels. Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and are free to Energy Air employees.

Energy Air began developing the curriculum for the program when they discovered there was a lack of effective training for commercial HVAC available from third-party sources.

The curriculum covers all aspects of HVAC in both English and Spanish and was developed in house by Energy Air’s 26 field-trained instructors. Courses include the following: Introduction to HVAC, Mathematics, Blueprint Reading, Personal Protective Equipment, Lifting, Communications, Mechanical Code, Specifications, CPR/First Aid, Emergency Response, Tools, Fiberglass, Metal and Exhaust Duct, Piping, Controls, Heating and Cooling Design, Scheduling, Rigging, Fire and Smoke Dampers, Equipment/Curbs, Air Distribution and Voltage.

Having a workforce in the field that’s skill-trained can make all the difference on projects according to Phillip “Critter” Crider, vice president of operations for Energy Air.

“It’s like night and day going to a jobsite and looking at our field team compared to others’ sometimes,” said Crider. “Our men take pride in what they do. They produce quality work they are proud of. At the end of the day, that’s what our customers need the most, and we give it to them.”

Energy Air’s owners believe the opportunity for an in-house education is a win-win for all.

“Through educational opportunities such as the F.A.C.T Program, our employees are able to grow their skill set in order to build their HVAC career,” said David Kulp, executive vice president for Energy Air and part owner. “In the end, we get a team of highly skilled professionals, and they have an opportunity to make more money and continue to grow in their careers.”

Graduation for this year’s F.A.C.T Program will be held April 9, 2010. Since Energy Air launched the F.A.C.T. Program, more than 90 employees have participated in the training.

Energy Air, Inc. has offices in Orlando and Tampa and offers commercial HVAC services throughout Florida in the following market segments: Education, Healthcare, Multi-Family/Mixed-Use, Religious, Retail, Office, Hospitality/Entertainment and Industrial. The company’s residential division works with builders on planned communities, custom homes, town homes and multi-family complexes and with homeowners for service/repair, replacement, system enhancement and planned maintenance.
