March 24, 2011 energyair Share this post Two Energy Air teams took the top slots in the annual Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Central Florida Fishing Tournament on March 18, and several others placed in the top 10. A total of 25 teams of two launched out of Red’s Fish Camp on West Lake Toho in Kissimmee, Fla. for the annual freshwater tournament. Teams included ABC members as well as members of Fishers of Men. Energy Air senior vice president, John Bartkovich, and Jerry Driskill from Crane Rental Corporation walked away with not only bragging rights, but a nice $1,000.00 cash prize for the first place spot with a total weight of 15.39 – a whopping 3 pounds above the second place champs. But the bragging rights didn’t stop there. Brian Drinkwater got some extra exercise carrying home his large trophy and $300 prize for the biggest bass, weighing in at 5.01 pounds. Energy Air field managers Harvey Tillman and Mike Cutler earned a second-place trophy and a $250.00 cash prize for bringing in 12.15 pounds. And they weren’t the only Energy Air team members in the top 10. Senior vice president Philip “Critter” Crider came in at sixth, field manager Brian Drinkwater at eighth, and project manager Chad Allman and field manager Doug Brock brought in 7.62 pounds for 11th place. The tournament brought out 25 boats to enjoy the beautiful spring day. Excited competitors made it in by 3:00 p.m. for the weigh-in, conducted by Fishers of Men, with hopes for the biggest bass and the highest total weight. In the end, a good time was had by all. The total fish weighed in by all teams was 161.30 pounds, and all 86 of the fish were released. The top five teams and biggest bass winner were rewarded with cash prizes, and trophies were given to the biggest bass and teams placing first, second and third. Additional winners included third-place team, Kevin Brock and Matt Tallacksen with Specialty Products and Insulation Co. with 11.63 pounds; fourth-place team Dwayne Haga and Ron Rowe with Sinns & Thomas Electrical Contractors, Inc. with 11.32 pounds; and fifth-place team Jesse Wingate and Branden Stephan with PCL Construction Services, Inc. with 11.06 pounds. Following weigh-in, members enjoyed a BBQ lunch followed by door prizes, a 50/50 drawing and a mystery weight winner. All participants left the event with goody bags filled with items provided by sponsors. The annual event is organized by the ABC Programs and Events committee as an opportunity for members to network with some of their colleagues, said Becki Lewis, director of marketing for ABC. “Not everyone plays golf or rides a motorcycle,” said Lewis. “This is just another event ABC puts on to bring together members that have the same interests. It builds camaraderie and brings members together.” Sponsors of the event included Labor Ready Southeast, Container Connection, LLC, CST Environmental, LP, Home Builders Association of Metro Orlando, Crane Rental Corporation, PCL Construction Services, Inc., The Page Insurance Agency and Sherwin-Williams.
