September 10, 2010 energyair Share this post Energy Air, Inc., is hosting Cruise for a Cause, a charity motorcycle ride and lunch event to benefit the Florida Hospital Diabetes Institute. The event will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010, the last day of Florida Hospital’s Diabetes Week which includes an annual golf tournament and fashion show. Motorcyclists will start at the Gator Harley Davidson dealership at 1745 US HWY 441 in Leesburg and will ride to Route 46 Entertainment District at 4316 W. State Road 46 in Sanford, where a party will be held with a live band, a barbecue lunch and door prizes. Energy Air formed a committee in conjunction with Florida Hospital to plan this event, and the company is expecting more than 100 attendees. Although the focus of the event is a motorcycle ride between the two locations, the company is encouraging non-riders to sign up to attend the lunch portion of the event at Route 46. “While we hope we have a strong number of riders, we are encouraging people without a motorcycle to attend the lunch at Route 46,” said Kati Trisler, director of marketing for Energy Air. “The party after the ride is going to be great, and we have a lot of really cool door prizes to give away.” Prizes for the drawings secured so far include spa gift certificates, golf packages, wine, dry cleaning, restaurant gift cards, tools and Harley Davidson gifts and apparel. Charity motorcycle ride events have become a popular way to raise money for charities and individuals in need that are suffering from an illness or injury. The Lake County H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group) Association members participate in roughly 20 to 24 charity motorcycle rides each year according to John Loomis, assistant director of the association. “Our members are very involved in the community,” said Loomis. “Whether it’s a poker run or an escorted ride, it’s a great reason to get together for a day of fun while supporting great causes in the community.” Energy Air supports the Florida Hospital Diabetes throughout the year with various events and contributions. Additional sponsors for the event include Yorkshore Sales and Marketing, Inc., Brasfield & Gorrie General Contractors, Winter Park Construction, Conklin Metal Industries, TectaAmerica Central Florida, Tharp Plumbing Industries, Florida Door Solutions and Associated Builders and Contractors of Central Florida.
