The Energy Air team is wrapping up the last two buildings (buildings 100 and 600) of Cypress Creek High School in Orange County. After a nearly two-year construction schedule, we are on track to be complete by Thanksgiving.
The project presented many opportunities for the Energy Air team to overcome challenges and meet aggressive deadlines, according to Steve Gustavson, Energy Air Senior Project Manager overseeing the project.
“I’m extremely proud of the entire Energy Air team – the field, shop and office, that put in two hard years of long hours and weekends to make this project a huge success,” said Gustavson. “From Wharton-Smith and Hanson Commissioning to Orange County Public Schools, we’ve received nothing but praise for our workmanship, knowledge of mechanical systems and our ability to adapt to any of the numerous existing conditions that challenged our Energy Air team along the way.”
The contracted scope includes HVAC installation services for the renovation and expansion of the 391,000-square-foot existing high school campus in Orange County that was originally constructed in 1992. Buildings renovated include administrative, multi-purpose/dining, classroom, laboratory, art, music suite, media center, science, gymnasium, performing arts center, field house and football stadium. The purpose of the renovation and expansion is to provide improved facilities and to modernize the campus, which is located at 1101 Bear Crossing Drive in Orlando. Mechanical systems installed include 6,447 feet of pre-insulated underground chilled water piping, (3) 500 ton air-cooled chillers, 26 air handlers, 93 fans & intake ventilators, 6 DX split systems, 1 PTAC, 249 VAVs and related equipment totaling 1,500 tons of cooling.
